Long distance cross-border and mainline transportation vehicles are prone to problems such as high water temperature, poor heat dissipation, and engine high temperature alarms. High temperature operation not only causes a decrease in power and a surge in fuel consumption, but in severe cases can also lead to major malfunctions such as cylinder gasket damage, cylinder pulling, and water tank leakage, resulting in vehicle shutdown losses. Maintaining the engine cooling system for high-temperature transportation environments is key to ensuring a smooth summer ride and reducing failure rates for the fleet.
Under high temperature conditions, the cleanliness of the water tank and intercooler is the core of heat dissipation. The willow catkins, dust, insect corpses, and road oil stains generated by long-term driving will firmly adhere to the surface of the radiator, block the heat dissipation gaps, resulting in poor ventilation and a significant decrease in heat dissipation efficiency. In dusty and high-temperature areas overseas, it is recommended to regularly use low-pressure clean water to flush the surface debris of the water tank and intercooler to avoid deformation of the heat sink caused by high-pressure direct flushing. Keeping the radiator transparent and clean is the simplest and most effective way to prevent high temperatures.
The quality and replacement cycle of the coolant need to be carefully controlled. Many fleets use ordinary clean water or inferior coolant all year round, which can easily produce scale and corrode water tanks and channels in high-temperature environments, causing internal blockages and poor heat dissipation. Regular long-term antifreeze has anti boiling, anti rust, and anti scaling functions, suitable for long-term high-temperature operations. It is necessary to replace the coolant in a timely manner according to the operating cycle, and at the same time check the liquid level of the expansion tank to ensure sufficient circulation of the cooling system and eliminate the problem of liquid shortage and high temperature.

Check the working status of the cooling fan and clutch device. The heavy-duty truck fan is a critical component for active heat dissipation. In high temperature environments, the failure, jamming, and insufficient speed of the fan clutch can cause the fan's heat dissipation to not keep up, resulting in high water temperature at idle and low speeds. Daily maintenance requires observing whether the fan starts and stops sensitively, and whether there is any slipping or abnormal noise. If the cooling response is slow, it should be repaired and replaced in a timely manner to ensure stable cooling under idle, climbing, and heavy load conditions.
The aging inspection of water pipes and rubber hoses cannot be ignored. Repeated thermal expansion and contraction at high temperatures can accelerate the aging and softening of inlet and outlet pipes, as well as warm air pipes, which can lead to hidden dangers such as bulging, water seepage, and pipe bursting. Before driving at high temperatures, it is necessary to check whether the water pipes are cracked and whether the clamps are loose, in order to prevent sudden high-temperature collapse caused by water pipe bursts and coolant leaks during long-distance transportation.

Standardize driving habits and reduce engine heat load. When climbing under high temperature and heavy load, downshift and accelerate in a timely manner to maintain a reasonable speed and avoid severe engine heat accumulation caused by dragging operation; When resting at idle for a long time, do not turn off the engine directly. You can idle for a moment to let the water temperature drop and reduce damage caused by high temperature retention.
The cooling system is the most critical maintenance project for trucks during high temperature seasons. By regularly cleaning the radiator, replacing compliant coolant, and checking the condition of fans and pipelines, it is possible to effectively prevent engine high-temperature faults, stabilize power output, reduce maintenance costs, and ensure the continuous and stable operation of transport vehicles in high-temperature environments.
