External heavy-duty trucks operate for a long time in complex working conditions such as steep slopes in mountainous areas, dusty mining areas, muddy and waterlogged conditions, and high temperatures and humidity. The rate of wear and tear of vulnerable parts is much higher than that of conventional paved roads. Most overseas fleets still use the original factory standard maintenance cycle, without dynamically adjusting according to local working conditions, resulting in problems such as premature aging of vulnerable parts, frequent damage, and frequent vehicle dents. Although the unit price of vulnerable parts is not high, once they fail, they will directly affect the stability of the braking, intake, walking, and chassis systems, causing downtime losses and associated major maintenance costs. Implementing exclusive scientific maintenance plans for complex working conditions and accurately matching replacement cycles are the core means for overseas fleets to reduce costs, increase efficiency, and ensure stable attendance.
The intake and fuel vulnerable parts are the primary maintenance focus for high dust and harsh working conditions. Air filters, diesel filters, and engine oil filters are high-frequency consumables. Due to the large amount of dust in mining areas and construction sites, air filters are prone to blockage and moisture, resulting in insufficient air intake, engine carbon deposits, decreased power, and increased fuel consumption. Overseas dusty working conditions require shortening the air filter inspection cycle, regularly cleaning floating dust with low pressure, replacing it directly if it is severely clogged, and preventing the use of defective equipment. Diesel and engine oil filter cartridges are affected by local oil impurities, resulting in higher filtration loads. They need to be replaced in advance to ensure clean oil circuits and stable lubrication, effectively protecting the high-pressure common rail system and engine precision components, and avoiding precision wear.
The vulnerable parts of the braking system are related to driving safety, and are suitable for key protection in steep slopes and heavy load conditions. Brake pads, brake drums, brake cups, and air pipe seals are highly susceptible to thermal degradation, hardening, and wear in mountainous areas with frequent braking on long downhill slopes and high-temperature wheel hub environments. Regularly check the remaining thickness of the brake pads, adjust the brake clearance in a timely manner, check the brake return status, and prevent dragging and uneven wear when working on heavy steep slopes. High temperature and high humidity environments can accelerate the aging of rubber seals. It is necessary to regularly check the sealing condition of the air circuit, replace aging pipelines and cups, and eliminate safety hazards such as brake air leakage and delayed brake response.
Chassis rubber vulnerable parts are the most easily overlooked category of premature aging. The thrust rod rubber sleeve, balance shaft bushing, shock absorber dust cover, and steel plate buffer rubber pad are prone to cracking, looseness, and elastic failure due to long-term exposure to bumps, mud and water immersion, and sun oxidation. The aging of rubber parts can directly lead to chain failures such as loose chassis, body shaking, driving deviation, and tire wear. In muddy and humid working conditions, it is necessary to strengthen the cleaning of the chassis to avoid long-term wear of the rubber sleeve by mud and sand. Regularly check the condition of rubber parts, replace aging parts in a timely manner, and stabilize the driving posture of the chassis.

The vulnerable parts of the walking system determine the long-term stable operation of the vehicle. Tires, wheel hub bearings, and lubricating grease are core consumables for walking. bumpy and bumpy roads can easily cause uneven wear and bulging damage to tires, while heavy loads and high temperatures can lead to grease failure and dry wear of bearings. Regularly check tire pressure and tread condition on a daily basis, and promptly clean up foreign objects; Replace high-temperature resistant lubricating grease according to the working cycle, adjust the bearing clearance, eliminate hub high temperature and bearing locking faults, and greatly improve the durability of the walking system.
In summary, under complex working conditions overseas, the maintenance of vulnerable parts of heavy trucks cannot be done uniformly. The fleet needs to abandon the fixed cycle maintenance mindset and shorten the maintenance cycle according to different scenarios such as dust, steep slopes, mud, and high humidity, adhering to the maintenance logic of "early inspection, replacement as needed, and prevention priority". By scientifically managing and protecting vulnerable parts, we can reduce hidden vehicle failures from the source, lower repair costs and downtime risks, comprehensively improve the adaptability and attendance rate of heavy trucks in complex overseas working conditions, and achieve long-term and stable operation of the fleet.
