Vehicle Identification: Safety Markings with Strict Standards
This vehicle is a SINOTRUK HOWO TX series 8×4 four-axle fuel tanker, the mainstream model for land transportation of refined oil products in China. Every detail on its exterior follows mandatory hazardous chemical transport regulations:
Dangerous Goods Warning Sign: A yellow triangular hazard sign marked with danger warning sits on top of the cab. It is a special marker for Class 3 flammable liquid transport, reminding surrounding vehicles to maintain a safe distance and keep all open flames away.
Anti-static Aluminum Alloy Tank: The silver aluminum tank body is decorated with orange anti-explosion warning strips. Aluminum alloy is the preferred tank material thanks to its light weight, corrosion resistance and low risk of static spark generation. Hazardous cargo identification marks are printed clearly on the tank side.
8×4 Heavy-Duty Chassis Layout: Two front steering axles and two rear load-bearing drive axles allow a legal tank capacity of 20–25 cubic meters, suitable for both urban fuel delivery and long-distance highway transport. Standard safety accessories include red-white reflective guardrails, top anti-slip maintenance walkways and static grounding strips.
2. Core Chassis & Tank Safety Technology
Chassis Configuration
The truck is equipped with high-horsepower Weichai or MAN-tech diesel engines and a 12-speed special gearbox for heavy trucks. It adopts full disc front brakes and heavy-duty rear drum brakes, paired with standard active safety systems: AEBS automatic emergency braking, ESC vehicle stability control, tire pressure monitoring and burst tire emergency protection. The total legal mass of the 8×4 chassis reaches 31 tons. The tank can be divided into independent compartments to carry gasoline and diesel separately without cross-contamination.
Mandatory Anti-explosion Tank Design (Compliant with GB18564 National Standard)
All tanks are manufactured under national standards for road liquid hazardous goods tank vehicles with multi-layer safety protection:
Internal anti-sloshing baffles to reduce liquid shaking during driving and prevent rollover caused by shifted center of gravity;
Manhole covers with built-in explosion-proof breathing valves and overflow prevention devices to balance internal pressure during oil loading and unloading and stop oil-gas leakage;
Standard static discharge strips, on-board dry powder fire extinguishers and emergency cut-off bottom valves to instantly cut off oil flow in case of spillage;
Fully automatic tank welding, with strict hydraulic pressure and air tightness inspection before delivery, plus mandatory tank safety re-inspection every 3–5 years.
3. Strict Legal Operation Requirements
Fuel tankers fall under special Class A hazardous chemical vehicles. Full compliance documents are required for road travel:
Vehicle credentials: Motor vehicle license, hazardous goods transport operation permit and valid tank inspection certificate with annual special hazardous goods inspection;
Personnel qualifications: Drivers must hold A2 driving license plus hazardous goods transport practitioner certificate. A certified escort with hazardous goods attendant certificate must ride along to supervise cargo safety at all times;
Traffic restrictions: Special filing is required before transporting flammable oil into urban areas or highway tunnels. Tankers are banned on restricted roads and during restricted hours, and cannot stop on highway emergency lanes or ordinary service areas without full supervision.
4. Domestic & Overseas Application Scenarios
Domestic Market
It is widely used for gas station fuel delivery, diesel supply to mines and construction sites, and industrial lubricant distribution in logistics parks. Compared with semi-trailer tankers, the rigid 8×4 fuel truck performs better on narrow urban and rural roads for short-distance distribution.
Export Market
It has become a flagship Chinese heavy truck product exported to Africa, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Caribbean regions for energy infrastructure projects. The lightweight aluminum tank fits rough overseas road conditions, with universal spare parts and low maintenance costs. Mass units have been shipped overseas from 2025 to 2026 to support oil field and town depot distribution.
5. Daily Safe Driving Guidelines
Strict speed limits: Max 80 km/h on highways and 60 km/h on ordinary roads. Slow down in advance when turning or going downhill, as liquid inertia greatly raises rollover risks;
Avoid long stops on open roads or under viaducts during thunderstorms, as static electricity and lightning may ignite volatile oil vapor;
Pull the handbrake, place wheel chocks and connect static grounding wires during loading/unloading. No smoking or mobile phone use within a 50-meter radius of the operation zone;
Never overfill the tank. Sufficient expansion space must be reserved to prevent oil overflow caused by thermal expansion in high-temperature weather.
Industry Outlook
With tightened global hazardous goods transport safety regulations, HOWO and other Chinese heavy truck brands keep upgrading intelligent safety features. Real-time on-board monitoring systems transmit vehicle speed, tank pressure and GPS location to supervision platforms for full digital tracking throughout transportation. Balancing load capacity, safety and cost efficiency, the HOWO 8×4 fuel tanker is a core equipment for domestic refined oil circulation and a representative made-in-China heavy special vehicle for global markets
