The biggest feature is that vehicles can board and disembark on their own without lifting operations, and can directly enter the cabin through the dock ramp for fixed transportation. The advantage of roll on/roll off ships is that the overall cargo damage rate is extremely low, and there is no risk of crane collision. The vehicle is located in a closed cabin and can effectively resist salt spray, rain, and sun exposure at sea. The overall rust prevention and protection effect of the vehicle is better. When shipping in large quantities, the single transportation cost is lower, the loading and unloading speed is fast, and the delivery time is stable. It is very suitable for the bulk export of new heavy-duty trucks. There are also certain limitations to the transportation of roll on/roll off ships. Firstly, it is required that the vehicle must be able to operate normally. Faulty vehicles that cannot be started cannot board the ship. At the same time, it requires high hardware requirements for ports. Some inland routes in Africa and niche ports do not have roll on/roll off berths and cannot receive roll on/roll off goods. Customized engineering heavy trucks with excessively high and wide dimensions may also be unable to load due to cabin height restrictions, and during peak seasons, cabin space is tight, requiring advance booking arrangements. Frame container transportation belongs to the special container transportation method, which lifts and fixes vehicles on open steel frame boxes to complete sea transportation. The biggest advantage is high port coverage, and ordinary container ports can dock without being restricted by roll on/roll off terminals. The transportation vehicles are more flexible and can load faulty vehicles, customized models with high height and width, and small batches of single bike samples. It has strong adaptability to scattered orders and special modified models, and can meet diversified export needs. The disadvantages of transporting frame cabinets are also very obvious. Vehicles are placed outdoors throughout the entire process, directly exposed to sea winds and rain environments, which require extremely high anti rust packaging requirements for the entire vehicle. There is a certain risk of scratching during the lifting process, and professional personnel need to use high-strength chains to reinforce and tie them. The labor cost and reinforcement cost are higher. The overall single unit shipping cost is higher than that of roll on/roll off transportation. Overlimited vehicles will also incur additional oversize costs. If the reinforcement is not in place during navigation, it is easy for the vehicle to shift and cause damage to the body. Based on practical experience in comprehensive export, for large quantities of new heavy-duty trucks with roll on/roll off conditions at the starting and ending ports, priority should be given to using roll on/roll off ships for transportation with higher cost-effectiveness and better vehicle safety. For small batch orders, special modified vehicle models, second-hand cars, and goods without roll on/roll off terminals at the destination port, frame container transportation is suitable. There is no fixed optimal solution for export shipment. Only by reasonably matching the sea freight method based on the order quantity, vehicle size, and port conditions can we ensure the smooth delivery of vehicles and complete overseas delivery performance to the maximum extent possible while controlling costs.
