Most overseas fleets only replace them after the parts crack, fail, or break out, which can easily cause various hidden dangers such as chassis noise, tire running, brake air leakage, oil leakage, and water ingress. Mastering the aging law of rubber parts for heavy trucks and developing scientific replacement cycles based on working conditions is an important means of low-cost avoidance of hidden vehicle failures and reducing fleet operation and maintenance costs.
The aging of rubber parts for heavy trucks is mainly affected by four working conditions, namely load compression, alternating high and low temperatures, dust and rainwater corrosion, and high-frequency vibration. Unlike metal fittings, rubber parts may experience elastic fatigue and hardening deformation under long-term compression; High temperature exposure, rainy season humidity, construction site dust, mountainous bumps and other complex working conditions overseas can accelerate rubber oxidation, cracking, delamination, shrinkage and deformation. And rubber aging is an irreversible process. Parts that appear intact on the outside have already lost their internal elasticity, and continued use will continue to affect the stability and sealing of the entire vehicle.
Chassis suspension rubber parts are the most worn and frequently replaced category, including balance shaft rubber sleeves, steel plate rubber sleeves, shock absorber dust covers, thrust rod rubber sleeves, etc. These types of accessories are subjected to long-term heavy load compression and bumps, and their aging pattern is mainly characterized by elastic attenuation, cracking, and looseness. In the initial stage, they are characterized by fine and abnormal noises from the chassis and slight shaking of the vehicle body. In the later stage, they may cause deviation, tire eating, and loose chassis. Conventional mainline transportation vehicles are recommended to undergo inspection and replacement every 1-2 years or 80000 to 100000 kilometers; Heavy duty high-frequency operation vehicles in construction sites and mountainous areas have larger loads and stronger impacts, and need to be inspected every six months to one year. Aging rubber sleeves should be replaced in a timely manner as needed.
Braking and pneumatic rubber seals are directly related to driving safety, mainly including brake pads, sealing rings, air pipe rubber joints, etc. Long term air pressure shock and alternating cold and hot can cause rubber hardening, poor sealing, brake leakage, slow brake response, and cylinder jamming. Wet environments can also accelerate the corrosion and aging of seals. The normal replacement cycle for working conditions is 1 year or 60000 kilometers. For rainy and muddy working conditions, it is necessary to check and replace in advance to avoid brake failure caused by seal failure.

Engine and oil circuit rubber accessories, mainly water pipes, oil pipes, and intake rubber hoses, are prone to swelling, aging, cracking, and leakage problems due to long-term exposure to high temperatures, engine oil, and fuel. Aging and failure of water pipes can easily lead to water leakage and high temperatures. Damaged oil pipes can cause oil leakage hazards, while cracked intake hoses can cause impure intake and engine wear and carbon deposition. The regular replacement cycle for such accessories is 2 years or 100000 kilometers. In high-temperature areas and long-term heavy-duty vehicles, early maintenance is required to prevent major failures caused by pipeline leakage.
Auxiliary rubber accessories are easily overlooked, but they affect the overall working conditions of the vehicle, including door rubber strips, wire harness waterproof rubber sleeves, buffer pads, etc. The aging and damage of waterproof rubber sleeves can cause moisture and short circuits in the circuit, and the failure of buffer blocks can exacerbate the hard impact of the chassis. It is recommended to conduct synchronous inspections during each vehicle maintenance. If hardening, cracking, or deformation occurs, it should be replaced immediately without a fixed cycle. The actual wear and tear under working conditions should prevail.
For overseas heavy-duty truck fleets, rubber accessories are low-cost and high-value consumables, and it is important to avoid "not breaking or replacing" them. Adapt to different working conditions with different replacement cycles, regularly screen aging rubber parts, and replace worn-out parts in advance. This can not only eliminate various hidden faults, reduce chassis, brake, and engine damage, but also improve vehicle stability and attendance, achieving fleet refinement and low-cost operation and maintenance.
