The fan clutch is the core component of the truck cooling system under high temperature conditions. Once it fails in mining areas or long-distance heavy load scenarios, it is easy to quickly cause major failures such as engine high temperature and cylinder gasket flushing. Due to limited maintenance conditions at overseas construction sites, identifying intuitive signs in advance can avoid costly downtime and maintenance losses. The first thing that is most easily observed is abnormal engine water temperature. When working with heavy loads, climbing slopes, or idling for a long time, the water temperature quickly rises. When the engine compartment is opened for observation, the engine is already hot, but the cooling fan has a low speed or even does not turn. Only when the engine is turned off and restarted briefly can it be restored. This is a typical manifestation of fan clutch disengagement and jamming. It should be distinguished from water tank blockage. If the water temperature is still abnormal after flushing the radiator, priority should be given to investigating the clutch. Secondly, there is a change in noise. Under normal conditions, the fan will only run at high speed for a short period of time when it needs to dissipate heat, and the noise is obvious; If the fan continues to roar at high speed after starting the cold car, the noise during driving will be too loud for a long time and will not weaken with the decrease of water temperature. It is likely that the clutch will remain locked and engaged, which will consume additional power and increase fuel consumption. Furthermore, it can be judged by combining the air outlet and hand feel. When idling at high temperatures, feel the air flow near the radiator outlet, which is weak. At the same time, observe the dashboard, and the time when the water temperature alarm appears is getting earlier and earlier. Under the same load and road conditions, it is easier to experience high temperatures than usual. Some car models may also experience poor air conditioning cooling. In high temperature environments, when the fan clutch fails, the condenser's heat dissipation is insufficient, and the air conditioning outlet is not cool. Many drivers easily mistake it for insufficient refrigerant and ignore fan body faults. There is also an implicit sign that after stopping the machine, touching the fan casing will make it easy to turn the fan when it cools down under normal working conditions. When the clutch fails and becomes stuck, the fan will have a lot of resistance to rotation, making it very difficult to turn. Daily inspections should avoid misunderstandings and not wait for water temperature alarms to be processed. Pay attention to the fan start stop logic before and after driving under high temperature conditions. Overseas fleets should incorporate the symptom recognition of fan clutch into driver training. Once there is sustained high temperature, constant or non rotating fan, stop the vehicle for inspection in a timely manner, and do not forcefully continue operation to prevent engine overheating and damage, ensuring stable vehicle operation.
