Choosing the right material for a semi-trailer directly affects its weight, load capacity, durability and operating costs. The three common materials are ordinary carbon steel, high-strength steel and aluminum alloy, which should be matched according to actual transportation scenarios.

Semi-trailers made of ordinary carbon steel offer high cost performance, good weldability and easy maintenance. They are ideal for heavy-duty transportation of sand, gravel, steel and coal, with affordable prices but relatively heavy weight, easy deformation under long-term heavy loads and higher fuel consumption.

High-strength steel, such as grades Q700 and T700, is the mainstream choice today. Featuring high strength and light weight, it reduces body weight while ensuring load capacity, increasing payload and delivering strong fatigue resistance. It suits standard-load transportation of bulk cargoes, balancing durability and economy for the widest range of applications.

Aluminum alloy semi-trailers are the lightest, corrosion-resistant and rust-proof, perfect for standard-load and high-efficiency transportation of dangerous goods, cold chain products and express parcels, significantly cutting fuel use. However, they cost more, have higher maintenance expenses and lower impact resistance, making them unsuitable for harsh road conditions and heavy loads.

For heavy sand and gravel hauling, choose ordinary carbon steel; for standard bulk cargo with higher efficiency, select high-strength steel; for cold chain, chemical and light cargo transport, prioritize aluminum alloy. The best choice depends on cargo type, road conditions and budget.
