Hydraulic cylinders are the core components of dump truck lifting operations, directly determining unloading efficiency, load-bearing capacity, and vehicle durability. Many overseas customers only focus on the brand and price of the hydraulic cylinder when purchasing dump trucks, ignoring the actual road conditions on the construction site, resulting in hydraulic cylinder lifting failure, oil leakage, deformation, piston rod bending and other faults. The requirements for oil cylinder structure, wall thickness, and dust protection vary greatly depending on the ground conditions, operation frequency, and load capacity of different construction sites. Only by selecting based on road conditions can the risk of maintenance downtime be reduced in the later stage.
Flat paving construction site, conventional multi-stage oil cylinders can meet the needs. For urban infrastructure and road surface leveling projects, the vehicle operation site is solid, the lifting process has minimal shaking of the vehicle body, and the impact load is low. Selecting standard sleeve type multi-stage hydraulic cylinders, with light weight, moderate lifting speed, and more advantageous procurement costs. Under these working conditions, the focus is on the sealing quality of the oil cylinder, with simple daily maintenance, suitable for engineering scenarios with moderate loads and low daily unloading frequency.
In sand and gravel mining areas, priority should be given to thickening the cylinder barrel and strengthening the protective oil cylinder. The ground in mining areas and quarries is uneven, and the vehicle body is prone to tilting when unloading. The oil cylinder bears a large lateral impact force, which can easily cause the piston rod to collide and the cylinder body to deform. The selection should choose oil cylinders with thickened cylinder walls and wear-resistant treatment on the surface of piston rods. At the same time, the configuration of dust rings and wear-resistant liners should be strengthened to prevent sand, gravel, and dust from entering the interior of the oil cylinder and prevent particles from scratching the seals and causing oil leakage. In heavy load scenarios in mining areas, try to choose models with larger bearing capacity margins and avoid selecting at full load.
Muddy and slippery construction sites value dust-proof and waterproof structures. During the rainy season, construction sites and clay work sites are prone to mud and water splashing and adhering to the surface of the piston rod. The dustproof structure of ordinary oil cylinders is weak, and mud and water will be carried into the cylinder as the piston rod expands and contracts, accelerating the wear of the sealing ring and causing leakage. This type of working condition requires oil cylinders with thickened dust covers and multiple dust sealing structures, while also requiring anti-corrosion coatings on the surface of the cylinder to resist corrosion in humid environments and extend the service life of the seals.
Narrow short frequency work site, balancing lifting range and stability. Small construction sites, short distance material dumping scenarios, limited vehicle space, frequent lifting and dropping of buckets, and repeated cycling of oil cylinders can easily lead to fatigue wear and tear. When selecting, it is important to balance the lifting stroke with the rigidity of the cylinder body, and prioritize selecting oil cylinders with anti fatigue design to avoid frequent impacts that may cause weld cracking. At the same time, it is equipped with a suitable hydraulic valve group to control the bucket dropping speed and reduce the impact load on the oil cylinder.
Overall, the selection of hydraulic cylinders for export dump trucks cannot be solely based on tonnage. Flat construction sites focus on cost-effectiveness and sealing performance; Strengthening the cylinder body strength and lateral impact resistance of bumpy road surfaces in mining areas; Key measures should be taken to prevent dust and water on muddy construction sites. Matching the oil cylinder configuration with the road conditions of overseas construction sites can significantly reduce oil leakage, deformation and other faults, improve the attendance rate of dump trucks, and reduce the maintenance expenses of the fleet in the later stage.
